Mike Albrecht, P.E. (Mining and Minerals Consultant, USA) does not see the difference between the terms "rare metals", "rare earth metals", "strategic metals."

I replied: "You are incorrect. Rare Earth Elements cannot be vs Rare Metals, Subgroup REE included into the group of rare metals. Cobalt is not a rare metal. Cobalt is a strategic metal for the US only. For the EU's strategic metals are hafnium, germanium, and REE. You do not see the difference between the terms "rare metals", "rare earth metals", "strategic metals." Cobalt refers to small subgroup metals. It does not belong to the subgroup of rare metals. You have outdated information about the methods of ore processing.

1. Comment on your link. Title of the article not correspond to its content. They do not understand the difference in terms of "strategic minerals" and "strategic metals." They do not call a single mineral.
2. You do not see the difference between the terms "rare metals", "rare earth metals", "strategic metals."
3. The group of rare metals are: light, refractory, scattered, rare earth metals, radioactive and inert gases (Wikipedia). I know of more than 45 rare metals. You know only 7.
4. Cobalt is not a rare metal. Cobalt is a strategic metal for the US only. For example, for the EU's strategic metals are hafnium, germanium, and REE.
5. You have outdated information about the methods of ore processing.
