This is a completely different mechanism of action

Researchers of University of Rochester in New York wrote "These grooves made the surface superhydrophobic by allowing it to capture air and repel water."
IT IS NOT TRUE!!!
They must treat the surface with a water repellent to make the surface hydrophobic, but they did not.

This is a completely different mechanism of action.
This is other physical phenomenon that allows a completely hydrophiliic surface to have air bubbles. (For example, glass. Its contact angle is 0-10 degrees. This is the limit).

P.S.  My thoughts on the article "Researchers have developed "Highly Floatable Superhydrophobic Metallic Assembly for Aquatic Applications" More
