Flocculants are organic substances, and coagulants are inorganic substances. These are different mechanisms of action

Alexandre Bessona, Cécile Formosa-Dagueabc, Pascal Guiraudac (Université de Toulouse, France) wrote "Flocculation-flotation harvesting mechanism of Dunaliella salina: From nanoscale interpretation to industrial optimization": "... using flocculation/flotation harvesting induced by NaOH addition in the medium... Based on this understanding of the flocculation mechanism, we then evaluate the influence of several parameters related to NaOH mixing and magnesium hydroxide precipitation..." More

They are wrong.
NaOH is inorganic substances and coagulant, so it could not cause flocculation.
Therefore, the mechanism of action is also erroneous.
Flocculants are organic substances, and coagulants are inorganic substances.
These are different mechanisms of action.
